SURFACE X ANDRÉ

In 2019, Surface Project launched Denmark’s first 100% sustainable sneaker. Now, the Danish shoe brand is proud to present a series of exclusive sneakers designed in collaboration with French graffiti artist, André Saraiva.

Saraiva is on street art’s short list, and his signature cartoon tag, Mr. A, is recognized all around the world. This international visibility and influence made him a natural choice for Surface Project, whose mission is to get the plastic out of our oceans – an environmental threat that affects the entire planet. “I’ve been a fan of André Saraiva for 20 years. His unrestrained approach, visual aesthetics and climate awareness all fit perfectly with what I want to accomplish with Surface Project,” says Samir Souid, founder and owner of Surface Project.

Together with André Saraiva, Samir Souid designed four exclusive models – a sneaker and a slip-on for men and women respectively – detailed with Saraiva’s characteristic figure Mr. A, and produced in a 100-pair limited edition for each model.

Like all shoes from the Surface Project, they are 100% sustainably made from ocean macroplastics with recycled rubber soles, and without the use of chemicals or environmentally harmful dyes. “Making sneakers from recycled macroplastic is our way of raising awareness about the ocean plastic crisis. And this collaboration with André Saraiva is a bit of a dream come true,” says Samir Souid.
