Responsibility

At Surface Project, we protect the environment and social responsibility. We work on a daily basis to reduce the environmental impact in all our joints. It is a comprehensive and continuous process of major challenges that requires creative solutions, commitment, and collaboration.
Our vision is to run our business in a sustainable way based on economic, social, and environmental aspects where our products are manufactured and handled with care for people and the environment. We try to live this up both in our own company and through ongoing dialogue with and surveys of our suppliers.

OUR STRATEGY
Our CSR Strategy is based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The United Nations (UN) has ratified a list of 17 goals to transform our world and make it better.
These 17 goals are achievable before 2030 and concern subjects such as how to eradicate poverty and hunger and ensure good health, education and gender equality for all.

If we all, both as companies and as individuals, do our bit to reach these goals, we firmly believe that they can be achieved.
At Surface Project, we have chosen 3 specific focal goals:

GOAL 12: RESPONSIBLE PRODUCTION AND CONSUMPTION – Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.

Because we know that we work in an industry where there are challenges when it comes to the production of the goods we sell.
We work hard to ensure that our production is responsible, and we want to communicate clearly to our customers what we do to have a responsible production chain so that they can make an enlightened choice when they shop for shoes.

Furthermore, we want to contribute to communicating the responsibility we all have as consumers when it comes to our environmental footprint, and how we can reduce this by e.g. making sure our shoes last longer.

GOAL 13: CLIMATE ACTION – Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.

Because whichever way you look at it, the fashion and shoe industry is a polluting industry, and we want to do our bit to make our supply and distribution chains less polluting.
We have set goals to use more sustainable materials and to bring down our emission of CO2, our consumption of water and our use of packaging.

GOAL 14: LIFE BELOW WATER – Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas, and marine resources for sustainable development.

Because the oceans cover more than 70 per cent of the surface of our planet and play a key role in supporting life on earth. They are the most diverse and important ecosystem, contributing to global and regional elemental cycling, and regulating the climate. The ocean provides natural resources including food, materials, substances, and energy.
Therefor we’ve partnered with the team at Seaqual who works with fishing boats all around the world to pull microplastic out of the ocean, which we deconstruct and turn into the material for Surface Project products.
